This presentation highlighted some of the factors that should be considered when investing in major infrastructure projects in the developing world. In particular, it highlighted risks that should be expected when investing in resource (oil and mineral) projects in Africa .
The purpose of the presentation was to make the Investor aware of these risks and to enable the Investor to manage and mitigate these risks. This was achieved by highlighting the importance of good corporate and State governance, and dispute resolution as mechanisms to encourage Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Africa to enable successful economic growth to both the host State and the Investor.
Investing and working in Africa is a rewarding experience in many ways. The presentation concluded that awareness, preparation, and understanding the investment environment are the keys to success.
